Acceptance of the GMP+ Feed Certification scheme by accred-itation bodies

22 November 2016

With this newsletter GMP+ International would like to clarify the current status of ac-ceptance of the GMP+ Feed Certification scheme by accreditation bodies (AB’s).

Why

At this moment there is a difference in accredited and non-accredited GMP+ certificates issued to GMP+ Participants in and outside the Netherlands.

Outside the Netherlands several AB’s (for example, Die Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle GmbH (DAkkS) and the DANAK - The Danish Accreditation Fund) accepted in an earlier stage the standards:

  • GMP+ B1 Production, Trade & Services;
  • GMP+ B2 Production of Feed Ingredients;
  • GMP+ B3 Trade, Collection and Storage & Transshipment;
  • GMP+ B4

These acceptations are based on GMP+ C6 Assessment and Certification Criteria for GMP+ Certification – Process Certificate. Certification Bodies (CB’s) located and audited by the AB’s outside the Netherlands are therefore allowed to use the accreditation mark on their GMP+ certificate. The GMP+ C6 is not accepted by the Dutch Accreditation Council RvA and therefore Dutch CB’s are temporarily not allowed to use the accreditation mark on their GMP+ certificate.

Solution

To solve this difference the GMP+ Feed Certification scheme had to become accepted by the European Accreditation (EA). Momentarily the following standards are accepted by the EA and the Dutch Accreditation Council RvA:

  • GMP+ B1 Production, Trade & Services;
  • GMP+ B2 Production of Feed Ingredients.

These acceptations are based on the GMP+ C12 Assessment and Certification Criteria for GMP+ Certification - FSMS Certification. This will result in assessing the GMP+ Feed Certification scheme by all AB’s in the same way.

Objective

The objective of GMP+ International is to bring also the following standards under European Accreditation:

  • GMP+ B3 Trade, Collection and Storage & Transshipment;
  • GMP+ B4

When all standards are accepted by the European Accreditation this will result in accredited GMP+ certificates in - and outside the Netherlands again.

Clarification

Because the Dutch CB’s momentarily cannot issue GMP+ certificates with an accreditation mark GMP+ International emphasizes that all GMP+ accepted CB’s have to comply with the requirements of the GMP+ Feed Certification scheme. This is verified during the annually certification body audits which the GMP+ International auditors conducts at CB’s. So therefore the value of the GMP+ certificate with or without accreditation mark is the same in the GMP+ market. The acceptance of each CB can be verified on the GMP+ website GMP+ Company database.
