During the past year, we have:
- We gained valuable insights through the audits conducted in the Netherlands,
- Collected feedback from different stakeholders by organising two Think Tank meetings, and we have spoken with over 25 stakeholders across the feed chain.
What we learned is clear: the feed sector needs a unified and reliable calculation method. Many tools exist, but few address supply chain emissions specifically for feed operators. This makes it difficult to compare data and build trust.
How will the new standard work?
- Use a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach
- Connect with the Global Feed LCA Institute (GFLI) database
- Align with Product Environmental Footprint Category Rules (PEFCR) for Feed for Food-Producing Animals
- The standard applies for the scopes; production of compound feed, production of premixture and to trade of feed (feed ingredient)
- It will be applicable on a global scale
How can you get involved?

If you are interested in piloting audits, please get in touch.
We are currently seeking Certification Bodies willing to support pilot audits under the draft standard later this year. This will provide you with early insight and the opportunity to influence the standard. If your CB is interested, please contact us via fra@gmpplus.org.
