From idea to global platform
In 2017, the year GMP+ International celebrated its 25th anniversary, stakeholders asked GMP+ International to take a stronger role in training and knowledge sharing. This marked the beginning of the GMP+ Academy. Development started in 2019, followed by the official launch in 2021.
The Academy was created to facilitate one central place for learning about feed safety. To bring together e-learning, webinars, partner training and other resources in a multilingual marketplace. The platform supports professionals at different levels and helps them build the knowledge needed for safe and sustainable feed production.
Today, the GMP+ Academy has grown into a global learning platform, helping professionals worldwide strengthen their knowledge and contribute to safe and sustainable feed production. In just five years, the platform has grown to almost 6,000 users and a network of 11 training partners. GMP+ International contributes its own e-learning modules, while training partners add their expertise through classroom, online and blended learning programmes. Together, they offer a diverse range of learning opportunities for professionals across the feed chain.
Clear roles in learning
A key strength of the GMP+ Academy is the combination of different types of learning.
GMP+ International facilitates the platform and offers basic e-learning modules. These modules explain the what and why of the GMP+ Feed Certification (FC) scheme. They give users a clear understanding of the principles and requirements.
At the same time, training institutes and trainers play an important role. They offer physical and online training. Their courses provide more in-depth knowledge and practical guidance on how to apply it. This helps GMP+ certified companies to apply the requirements in daily practice and improve their processes. Together, this creates a complete learning journey for the feed sector.
Looking ahead
After five years, the main focus is on improving the user experience. The goal is to make it easier for professionals to find and use the right training. The GMP+ Academy aims to grow further as a global platform for knowledge sharing in the feed industry.
