Important updates for companies: new AMA Quality Seal requirements regarding soy from January 1, 2024

For companies that produce and/or trade soybeans, soy products and/or compound feed containing soy for the AMA Quality Seal. As of 01-01-2024, there are a number of crucial developments for companies that trade, process and/or handle soybeans and/or soy products within the QS chain.

1. Registration for GMP+ Companies before 1-1-2024:

If your company supplies soy products within the QS chain, registration is required before 01-01-2024. Make sure you comply with this obligation in time. GMP+ companies can register in the QS database from 05-12-2023. Make sure you indicate whether you process and supply soy products within the QS chain and declare that you will comply with the conditions of one of the GMP+ accepted standards (MI 5.1, MI 5.2, MI 5.3 and MI 5.6) or of the QS Soyplus module. If you have any questions about registration in the QS database, please contact QS or have a look at the manual.

2. New FRA Standards are now online:

The updated  MI 5.2 Responsible Pig and Poultry Feed and the new MI 5.6 Production and Trade in Responsible Feed are now available on the GMP+ International website. We recommend to consult these standards to understand how they apply to your business operations.

3. Certification:

After registration, companies have until 31-12-2024 to be certified by one of the GMP+ FRA standards for responsible feed. This can be done with your upcoming regular audit in 2024. There are specific requirements for product labelling at different stages.

4. Labelling

Positive declaration of the status of the feed by means of a reference to the scope of the feed is allowed. See chapter 4.5 of the R 5.0 Feed Responsibility Management Systems Requirements
