What is the issue?
GMP+ International has been informed about several sea vessels delivering maize with increased levels of Aflatoxin B1. The observed levels are still under 0,020 mg/kg (20 ppb) but may pose a risk for dairy cattle feed and for maize by-products where a processing factor (concentration) is considered (e.g. DDGS, maize gluten feed).

What can you do?
Be alert when purchasing maize originating from Brazil. Please consider that for maize there are minimum monitoring requirements in place, depending on the country of origin of maize and the type of processing company. For more information see TS1.7 Monitoring. This measure is intended to prevent the purchase or processing of maize and maize by-products that do not comply with the feed safety limit for Aflatoxin B1.
