Renewed commitment: GMP+ International and NAO extend acceptance Hygiene Code

GMP+ International and the Nederlandse Aardappel Organisatie (NAO) have worked together to make sure that potato by-products can be used safely within the feed chain.

Trusted assurance in the feed chain

GMP+ and NAO have renewed  their partnership through the acceptance agreement. A comparison between the requirements of the NAO Hygiene Code and the GMP+ TS1.2 Requirements for purchasing products and services has shown an equivalent level of assurance. This means the NAO Hygiene Code is accepted within the GMP+ chain.

What does it mean in practice?

Companies working with the NAO Hygiene Code may sell feed potatoes to GMP+ certified buyers, provided that transport is carried out by GMP+ certified transporters. The Hygiene Code remains an important instrument in promoting good practices and guaranteeing plant health standards within the potato chain.

Shared Commitment

By recognising the NAO Hygiene Code, we make sure the Dutch potato by-products can continue to enter the feed chain in a safe and sustainable way.” Martine Boon, GMP+ Managing Director

“The recognition of the NAO Hygiene Code by GMP+ is important for our members, who are traders and different types of processors. The recognition makes it possible to market potato by-products in the feed market in a safe and sustainable way." Jan Gottschall, secretary/policy advisor NAO
