Temporary low-water measures extended until 31 December 2026

Following an evaluation with the stakeholders involved, GMP+ International has concluded that low water levels in European rivers and canals may continue to cause shortages of GMP+ certified transport and storage capacity.

Therefore, the temporary measures for transport and storage will remain in force until 31 December 2026.

Strict conditions remain applicable

The temporary measures were introduced to support GMP+ certified companies facing an acute shortage of GMP+ certified transport or storage capacity due to low water levels.

Under strict conditions, the measures allow companies to use:

  • non-GMP+ certified road transport;

  • non-GMP+ certified inland waterway transport; and

  • non-GMP+ certified storage and transshipment.

For the applicable conditions and requirements, please refer to the newsletter published on 13 August.

Continuous monitoring

GMP+ International will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Should circumstances require it, timely communication will be provided regarding a possible extension or termination of this temporary measure.

As these measures are temporary, participants should avoid entering into long-term contracts with non-certified storage and transport companies.
