Together we are stronger

We are responsible for Feed Safety Worldwide. The precautionary principle is the heart of the GMP+ Feed Certification scheme. Every individual GMP+ certified company also has its own responsibility in this regard.

January's newsletter described the contribution that the Products List, the Risk Assessments, the Monitoring database and the Early Warning System make towards this shared responsibility. It also briefly explained what is required of the GMP+ certified companies and how GMP+ International manages the data. By doing this together, we are stronger and we know more.

In order to know even more, it is important to hear the views of users. For this reason, GMP+ International interviewed a number of firms about the Products List, the Risk Assessments, the Monitoring database and the Early Warning System.

The results
In all cases, customers understand the value and the objective. All customers say that they want to retain the products, but that there is room for improvement. Nearly all customers use the products; however, they do not use all the available options/possibilities. They either do not know them or find them overly complicated.

Top 5

  1. All products are regarded as being challenging for new users to work with. Because there is a lot of information available, finding the right information sometimes takes a lot of time.
  2. Monitoring database: there is room for improvement in terms of user-friendliness.
  3. Risk assessment: The risk assessment is too general. There is a need to name the most common risks. And firms would like to see more focus.
  4. Products List: It is not clear to everyone what the differences are between the GMP+ International Products List and the EU catalogue.
  5. Early Warning System: The companies would like to have insight into all reports received by GMP+ International, and with an increased frequency. We have taken this to heart and from June we will be sharing the reports monthly via the portal.

Implementing the improvements is an ongoing process. Some points are simple and easy to tackle, while others will take more time. So, we will keep you up-to-date on developments via our newsletter.

Naturally we are open to feedback, so if you come up against anything, please let us know. In this way, you can contribute to Feed Safety Worldwide.
